Club Philosophy on Charity Events / Rides

As a group, we will strive to participate in at least 6 Charity rides within Texas each year. Charities that Cool Cats members actively support include: Animal Shelters; Women's and Children's Shelters; Diabetes, Cancer and MS research to name a few. Show our colors...ALWAYS WEAR YOUR COOL CATS JERSEY, SHORTS & SOCKS when riding in a charity event!!!
 

NOTE: This list shows those rides we have done in the past as a group, that some Cool Cats have done alone, and those that benefit charities…some just look like fun! The list will be updated as the year goes by and as more info becomes available. It is likely that on some of these dates there will be no local club ride (watch the web site local ride schedule and e-mails for details). In all of the below instances, where a ride is out of town, we will attempt to carpool and convoy to the ride where possible. Many Texas rides are listed on the Bicycle Texas web site…if there is a ride that you are planning to go to, and it’s not on our list below, please contact Bob or Della if you are willing to be the Ride Leader for the ride representing the Cool Cats…you will be responsible for carpool / convoy arrangements, etc. http://www.bicycletexas.com/tx_bike_rides.htm  When you browse the ride list on this site please check the date as many of the previous year’s rides are still listed. Bear in mind that some organizations don’t update their web site until a few months prior to an upcoming ride.

Saturday & Sunday 17th & 18th - Tour de Cure (San Antonio, TX)
The Cool Cats already have a big team for this Event and we’ll also be sponsoring a rest stop like we did last year! Contact Della or Bob for further details about joining the team or to volunteer for the rest stop or to SAG. Family members are most welcome to help-out! Specific ride, rest stop and SAG support details will be discussed at monthly club meetings Jan thru May.

Saturday 21st - Paws & Puddles Bike Ride (Texas City / Galveston, TX)
Lots of Cool Cats did this ride last year. It benefits the Animal Alliance of Galveston County. The ride is on the Saturday morning; however, the Cool Cats will be convoying there the Friday afternoon / evening and staying in the Galveston area for the ride Saturday and not leaving until Sunday morning. Make a family weekend of it! More details to come as the date gets closer. Contact Della for lodging details.

Saturday, August 23rd - Hotter ‘N’’ Hell 100 (Wichita Falls, TX)
This ride requires you dedicate a Friday thru Sunday for travel, etc. Ride is on the Saturday. Huge bike expo and other ride / racing activities also throughout the weekend. Contact Della ASAP for details and lodging reservations…rooms are VERY limited.
